Poland - News and Tourist Information 30/12/2005SkyEurope expands in PolandFlights to Central Europe are in demand, 8,000 signed up for Ryanair's first week of flights to Riga. WARSAW, Poland (AP) -- Slovak budget-airline SkyEurope Airlines AS said Tuesday it will open a second base this fall in Poland, the region's largest market. The Slovakia-based company, which already has flights to several European destinations from Warsaw, said it would start operations in the southern city of Krakow Sept. 30. SkyEurope will offer flights from Krakow, a major tourist destination, to Amsterdam, London, Milan, Paris and Rome. The airline entered the Polish market May 1, when Poland and nine other countries -- mostly in central and eastern Europe -- joined the European Union. The company, which began operations in 2002, already has bases in neighboring Slovakia and in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
