Retail giants give in to customer demand as they open their doors to the Euro
Large retail centers across Poland have finally decided they will accept the Euro currency in order to attract more customers.
"Clients suggested such a possibility to us," said Dominika Kosman, spokeswoman of Royal Ahold in Poland. The company will offer the chance to spend the Euro in a number of its 193 stores in the country. Carrefour Polska allowed bills to be paid in the new currency in May and will extend the scheme to all its stores in September. Retail chains claim that purchasing in Euro is far more beneficial than exchanging money. "We are not trying to make money on the exchange rate," said Marcin Olech from Carrefour Polska. The exchange rate in the stores is calculated based on average rate of the National Bank of Poland or other banks. (Source: http://www.wbj.pl/?command=article&id=23746) |
