Poland unemployment at 19.1 percent in December, highest rate in EU
Unemployment in Poland climbed to 19.1 percent in December from 18.7 percent in the two previous months, the national statistics bureau said Monday, giving the country the highest jobless rate in the European Union.
The number of those out of work in the country of 38.2 million stood at 2.99 million at the end of December, the statistics office said.
Poland was one of 10 countries that joined the EU in May last year, bringing the number of member states to 25.
