Poland's Q3 GDP grew 4.5-4.9%, public debt less than 53% of GDP at end-'04 - EconMin
Poland's gross domestic product (GDP) grew between 4.5% and 4.9% year on year in the third quarter, Poland's Economy and Labor Minister Jerzy Hausner told reporters ahead of the Central Statistics Office's November 9 data release.
"The result will likely be below 5%, whether it will be 4.5%, 4.6%, 4.7%, 4.8% or 4.9%, we will see tomorrow," Hausner said.
Hausner also said Poland's public-debt-to-GDP ratio will be less than 53% at the end of this year, due to the strengthening of the zloty throughout the year, which made foreign-currency denominated debt cheaper, along with measures implemented as part of Poland's public finance austerity program.
Poland's Finance Minister Miroslaw Gronicki said earlier in December that the public finance debt would reach 51.5% at end-2005. At end-2003, Poland's public-debt-to-GDP ratio totaled 51.6%.
Hausner recently revised downward his expectations of 2004 GDP growth to 5.3-5.5% from the previous 5.7-5.8%, as investment growth continues to lag and industrial output growth declines.
The 2004 budget passed in late 2003 called for 5.7% year-on-year GDP growth.
